Fort Collins · We’re hiring

Help run the town machine.

One small crew runs this magazine, The Fort List, and a client factory for Fort Collins businesses — out of Old Town, digital-first to start. We’d rather teach a curious local than hire a resume.

The roles

Editorial intern

Academic credit · unpaid

For students who can take the work for course credit. Real newsroom systems: sourced research trails, the weekly edition, the Trail View franchise, fact-checked directories. Structured learning first — this lane exists only where the academic-credit standard genuinely holds.

Campus ambassador

Independent · commission

Independent 1099 work on your own schedule, in your own channels. A flat commission for each verified signup your personal links bring in. You run your own promotion — we never dictate your hours or your methods.

Street team · distribution

Paid · opens with print

Rack drops and route quality for the print run, paid hourly, opening once the print funding gate clears. Applying now puts you first in line — this is an interest list today, not a scheduled job yet.

Client-factory ops

Academic credit · unpaid

Behind the town machine is a software factory that builds and runs sites for local businesses. Learn the operating side: onboarding, quality gates, owner consoles. Same academic-credit standard as the editorial lane.

The honest fine print: applying is not an offer of employment. Every role is classified before any offer under our internship program’s legal framework (FLSA primary-beneficiary standard for academic-credit roles; Colorado’s ABC test for independent commission work; W-2 employment otherwise). Unpaid work never replaces paid work here.
